DMARC p — Policy

What a receiver should do with mail that fails DMARC.

Required
yes
Default
Valid values
none | quarantine | reject

What it does

p=none only monitors: failing mail is delivered normally and you just receive reports. p=quarantine asks receivers to put failing mail in spam. p=reject asks them to refuse it outright. Since February 2024, Google and Yahoo require any domain sending more than 5,000 messages a day to bulk recipients to publish at least p=none — and that floor is widely expected to rise.

Example

v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; rua=mailto:dmarc@example.com
